Family Matters

Thanks for the post from Stan Atkins My cousin and I talk by phone once a week for about an hour each time. We only live two hours from one another but do not get together as often as we should. So we do make time to chat and catch up about our lives, our children and grandchildren. When we talked last week, I told her about a new television show I was enjoying. She had never heard of it and wondered if it was on one of the major networks or another channel. She pulled up http://www.tvbydirect.com/ while we were chatting to see what they offered in her area. I enjoy being close to family and being able to share with them. I have some great friends but family members are the people you can trust most in your life, or that is the case with me. If I won the lottery, my attorney would be my cousin and my financial advisor would be my son-in-law. I would trust them to help me sort out the craziness of it all and I would share my good fortune with them.

I was totally lost today when I had to drive to a town about thirty minutes from home for work. I was running late to meet and client and couldn’t get them on the phone to ask for directions or let them know that I was running late. Of course, this completely stressed me out. I decided that I needed to pull over, get my laptop out and use my clear mobile internet to make sure that I Googled the right address. It turns out that I wrote the address down completely wrong. I sent the client an e-mail and was happy to find out that I was only five minutes away from where I needed to be. It was such a relief when I rolled in the driveway. I really don’t know what people did when we didn’t have the internet, especially if they were lost! I got there before the client even got the e-mail and explained the situation. She said that the street names are so close that a lot of people usually get lost. A day that could have been a disaster ended up being a good day and I made a commission!

I can't even imagine all of the pictures that I've taken of my daughter so far. She's only five months old but I think that I could fill at least three picture albums with all of them! I think that I could fill another picture album with all of the pictures that I took of my daughter when we dressed her up for Halloween the other night.
We used our wireless internet Boise to order a baby lion costume. It was just so cute that I couldn't resist buying it! Plus, she seemed to not mind being in a costume, which I was really worried about. It's not like I've ever put her in a costume before that so I was afraid that she would be fussy when I did that.
I think that everyone was so impressed at how well behaved she was when I took her around to see a lot of our family. I'm even thinking about sending out this one picture of her laughing in her costume out with all of our Christmas cards.

I'm Becoming My Mother

My mother is the epitome of a worry wart. She worries about if the mail will come, if it will rain, if her children will get married…you name it, she’s worried about it. I always said that I never worried about anything because my mother worries enough for the both of us. Until now. Now I have two children of my own and with each day that passes, I find myself worrying needlessly. I worry about if my children are eating enough, and if I’m going to get a flat tire and be stranded with the kids in the car. I worry about if I’m a good wife and mother and how I’m ever going to get our house clean. I worry a lot about our family’s safety. I even convinced my husband that we needed a security system that I found on allhomesecurity.com. He agreed, so that’s one less thing for me to worry about. My mother always told me that I would understand why she worries so much when I have kids of my own. I think I’m actually beginning to understand.

Ghost Hunters On Syfy

The creators of reality shows are getting more inventive, and they are on more networks these days with many of the shows in line with the channels theme. I enjoy the show Ghost Hunters on the Syfy channel.
I find the paranormal to be fascinating and this show has investigators Grant and Jason who travel to different locations that are reported to be haunted. The investigators bring a team and equipment with them to search for ghosts.

Initially the group meets with the owners of the haunted location and is given information about the hauntings that have occurred. The team then uses their equipment to take temperature readings, video of the location and audio. They speak to the ghosts and attempt to have contact.

The team then analyzes all of their ghost data to verify any type of contact that may have happened. Apparently electronic equipment is sensitive enough to record paranormal activity. They try to find logical explanations for some of the activity such as a drop in temperature may be occurring from a vent. They meet with the owners after looking at the data to explain their findings.


I watch Ghost Hunters on www.direct.tv with my family and often discuss episodes with my friends later. I haven't quite decided if I believe in the paranormal, but this show makes me consider the possibility.

How The Statler Brothers Affected My Pregnancy

Once upon a time in a seaside arena by the Atlantic Ocean, the Statler Brothers appeared in Savannah, Georgia. My husband knew how much I loved their song "Elizabeth" so he bought tickets and took his pregnant-out-to-there wife to see them. It was my first pregnancy and I was having a tough time with swelling, making me hardly able to walk. I spent a lot of time lying on the couch crocheting baby blankets. The poor guy thought I needed some fresh air and entertainment, so we set the home security alarm from www.securitychoice.com and took off into Savannah.

The Civic Center in Savannah is like a huge warehouse with impossibly high ceilings from which little light comes, which is a good thing at a concert, anyway. But the acoustics are outrageous, so when the music began, you could hear every last little nuance without the aid of the huge speakers that are in every concert. The music was great, the joking funny and, of course, when they began to sing "Elizabeth" I began to get cramps. I sat supremely still, praying my water wouldn't break so I could hear my favorite song. My husband was on his feet dancing about, not noticing how quiet I was, until he looked back at me and froze. Our son was born two weeks later, but I got to hear "Elizabeth."

The Good Life

I never knew the retired life would be so sweet. Sure, I knew it'd be a definite upgrade from working the 9 to 5 every day, week after week, but this has really surpassed all of my expectations! My wife and I spent the majority of our lives together living up in Connecticut, fighting the harsh winters and just keeping things as calm as we could. It got hard, what with my job keeping me there all hours and the kids coming in and out with school and everything. Then, they got older, went to college, and I finally got the opportunity to retire. After many years of figuring out exactly what we wanted to do, Barb and I finally decided it was time to live the dream: move down to Florida and live a live of minimal stress, minimal possessions and minimal worries. It's seriously great--I'm even looking in to domain hosting to see if I can start a blog about how awesome life is. Here's to us!

VH1 is My Favorite Channel

There is nothing about VH1 that I don’t love. I’ve got satellite TV, so I have tons and tons of channels, but I’ll be honest, I usually don’t watch any of them except for VH1. And the only reason I found out I actually had VH1 was when I went to bestchoicetv.com and after finding this out I rarely ever change the channel away. This is one of the only channels left that broadcasts lots of music, which I love, so there’s a plus. In addition to that, they run all kinds of gross reality TV shows, which I just can’t seem to get enough of. I think they make me feel better about my everyday life, to be honest! One of the worst offenders is For the Love of Ray J. This guy, Ray J, is the renowned singer Brandy’s brother, and apparently, he’s “lookin’ for love.” I’m not sure if what he finds is love, but the whole show makes me want to take a shower. It’s like watching a textbook about what not to wear or do on a first date! Another great show that runs is the Top 40 Countdown. You can only catch this show if you’re up early on the weekends like myself, but it’s a great way to catch up on popular music. I like to watch it to see the latest videos of my favorite artists and see what new songs are out that I may have missed. Overall, when my TV is on, it’s turned to VH1…there’s really not another channel I can think of that has more to offer me than this one.
